He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Navy. He was the fire chief of the Ossining Fire Department in 1987-88 and was a member of Ladder 41. Zerrilla is survived by his wife, Judy; his sister, Dorothy Thomas; several stepchildren and many stepgrandchildren.
