HAVERSTRAW The bitter cold temperatures have caused the Hudson River to freeze over and as in many recent years, that means that commuter ferry service on the Haverstraw-Ossining Ferry and the Newburgh-Beacon Ferry is replaced with bus service. Schumer came to Haverstraw with Rockland County Executive Edwin Day and local officials to call on the US Coast Guard to increase Hudson River ice braking efforts to keep the ferry operational in the frigid weather.
